  The location of "Heart of Manzanita" is true to its name. We could walk anywhere quickly, and we did! This was a prefect place for our dog, and we appreciated the amenities on hand for pets. We also bought wild bird seed at the little grocery (we have always loved "the little apple" store) to fill the feeder. We saw a lot of birds in the back yard, always a plus. The kitchen was ample to our needs. On the down side, there were no step by step directions for using the TV, and it is small for the size of the sitting room. The other complaint was the size and configuration of the bedroom. It's all bed! And if both people want to read in bed, one is sorely out of luck, with only one side having a night stand and lamp. I'm sure this is because the closet door would hit any table on the wider-access side of the bed. The bed is also quite high, so one couldn't sit on it to put on socks. The large mirror in the bedroom is oddly placed, and as a 5'5 person, I could only see myself from the nose up! Even though the cottage is in a great location, the awkwardness of the bedroom means we might not rent it again. The large sitting room seems like a wasted space, and it stayed chilly even when using the wall heating unit in there. It seems like it could be better used as the room with the futon sofa, so kids or two non-coupled adults could stay and have privacy when they wanted it. I can't imagine using futon sofa in the dining area for sleeping...right in the hub of the cottage, not comfortable to sit on, and no privacy. Plus, the dinky glass coffee table was low, more a trip hazard than a functional coffee table. We spent as much time as weather allowed out and about in Manzanita, or out hiking elsewhere, so none of this really mattered. But I would not stay with a friend who would want their own space, so this is really only suitable for a couple without kids or guests. For a single person with a dog, this place would be pertfectly fine.

  Great location in town and just minutes to walk down to the beach. Great location on coast with short drive times to Astoria in the North and Tillamook/Oceanside in the south and everything in-between.
